ECS follows a traditional school year calendar that our families really enjoy. Our school day begins at 8:30 for K-5 and 8:15 for 6th grade and up. K-5 dismissal is 3:00. 6th-12th grades dismiss at 3:15 Monday-Thursday and 12:20 on Friday with Friday afternoon reserved for interscholastic sports games for Jr. High. On various Fridays throughout the year, grades K-5 are dismissed at 12:15 for teachers' professional development. Extended care is available for drop-ins 6:30 am to 6:00 pm.
With a start date of the Tuesday after Labor Day families have time to vacation at the end of summer with fewer crowds.
Our first holiday is Columbus Day, the first Monday in October. Very few schools take Columbus Day off, so you will find uncrowded beaches and theme parks.
We also take a day off for Parent-Teacher Conferences in November. Thanksgiving Week, students have the whole week off.
We take two weeks off for Christmas and New Year's Day. The last Friday of school in December has dismissal at 12:15 with no daycare.
The third Monday in January is off for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and we take a 4-day weekend at Presidents Day to allow for families to take a ski weekend. Open House Night is the Thursday night prior to Presidents Day. Don't miss this special event!
Our Easter break is the week prior to Easter, returning the Tuesday after Easter. We have a 4-day weekend at Memorial Day due to teacher in-service.
The last day of school is in early to mid-June with dismissal at 12:15 (no daycare).
We request that our families plan their vacations around these school holidays so their students do not miss class time. Five unexcused absences are permitted each year, according to the student handbook. To view the calendar for this year, select the Calendar tab to the left.
