Support

Established in 1976 to love, care for and teach young children.

Philosophy

We believe God's plan calls for a personal relationship with Christ and a distinctive, committed life of service to God and man. We begin with the conviction that children are uniquely imprinted with the image of God. In order to reach the potential God has for each child, we believe that children should have a well-rounded program that encourages them to develop socially, emotionally, cognitively, physically and spiritually. Children, in order to develop according to their own developmental time table, should be offered a wide variety of activities encouraging them to learn. As a Christian school, our obligation before God, is to help each child learn about and develop a love for Christ and the Bible through daily experiences and application to everyday life.

Personnel

The faculty of Escondido Christian Preschool consists of individuals who are well qualified and experienced in planning programs for young children. Each staff member meets or exceeds state requirements for Early Childhood Education. Each has been selected because of their desire to serve the Lord in promoting positive, Christian character within preschool children.

Schedule

We are open 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Full and half-day programs are offered based on available space. The half-day program covers the morning from 6:30 a.m. to noon. Our enrichment program time is from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Lunch Bunch is an option to those who would like to stay for the lunch time of 12:00 to 12:30 p.m. There is a nominal fee for this time period.

Our Program

Our Program is for children 3-5 years old (toilet trained) and is centered around weekly themes including Bible. The staff plans activities to coordinate with these themes. The lesson plans encourage creativeness, cognitive thinking, social and verbal skills, spiritual development, following directions and physical development. This is achieved by offering a time for creative arts and crafts, circle time for instruction and games, music times, flannel board stories, books and story time, manipulative toys, cognitive activities, dramatic play centers, snack time and playground time. Twenty minutes of Motor Development classes are included every day, Monday through Thursday. These classes help children develop their large muscle skills and coordination as well as listening skills and following directions.
Our Pre-K classes are structured in such a way as to also include a time of instruction as a group for number and letter recognition while working on small muscle skills. These times help children develop skills necessary for entering our kindergarten program at Escondido Christian School.

Our facility was built for preschool and is structured for children. Centers are created with distinct interest areas - blocks, social play (housekeeping), science, manipulative toys, floor toys, art, library, playgrounds and separate classroom for the Motor Development.

Educational Foundation

Escondido Christian Preschool is operated under the direction of Escondido Christian School, a traditionally structured K-8 school which has served the needs of local families for over 50 years. The longevity of this ministry of Escondido Christian Center provides a proven track record of educational success for children, many of whom are now grown and have enrolled their children and grandchildren in our program! Escondido Christian School is a natural compliment to the Preschool Program. Our goals and educational approach are sequenced carefully, making the transition between preschool and elementary school easier and less stressful.

Jump Start

Educators have long realized the importance of readiness for school. While many readiness skills are developmental, there are also those that can be taught. Jump Start at Escondido Christian Preschool is designed to introduce the child to necessary skills that will help him or her be better prepared for the kindergarten experience. Jump Start is available during the month of July on a five morning a week basis. Children who are registered for kindergarten at Escondido Christian School and have passed the Kindergarten Readiness test are encouraged to take part in this wonderful program.
